Their v There v They’re
They all sound the same. And they look similar. But these words aren’t even related. Here’s an explanation.
Their
Possessive of they – belonging to them.
- The staff at the regional office had their own set of procedures.
There
That place – not here.
- A man was hiding over there when the office was broken into.
It can be also used to introduce a sentence – although this isn’t recommended.
- There was a man hiding in the office when it was broken into.
They’re
A contraction (shortened form) of they are.
- They’re going to move into their new office next week.
